Do I include patents applied for but approval pending?

Yes add details about those patents for which you have applied for but approval is yet pending because it will be a concrete way of showing that you are innovative and can come up with good solutions that are deserving of a patent. Also, most of the companies while hiring specifically ask to a sign a document regarding intellectual property right. Hence it is wise to disclose pending patents in your resume.
