How do you handle self employment on a resume?

Self-employment is interesting but difficult to handle on a resume. The best way to add it in the experience section is to mention it in a proper way. You can write like “Self-employed as a freelance designer”. This shows your experience while maintaining the required humility and professionalism. Also, you attach some samples, if possible. For instance, if you are a freelance writer and if some of your written pieces have been taken up by some company then you can add that particular piece.
