A resume should be a brief recap of all you have done starting from your college times up to the very recent experience. This is the chronological order but there has been a trend of writing reverse-chronological resumes highlighting the most relevant and important experience first.

In its entirety a resume should first have your name and contact information on the front, followed by a small summary (optional). Then you mention your educational background. You can mention your GPA if you wish to but if you are a student with not much experience it is better that you do.

Next, you mention your technical skills as well as your soft skills. Make sure you have all the relevant certifications and put in the keywords mentioned in the job listing.

List out your achievements and projects that you undertook. While listing your achievements make sure to mention numbers, eg– I increased company sales by 8 percent, using quantifiable data makes your achievement more impressive.

Lastly write the contact numbers of the references you have (if any, not compulsory) and make sure you inform them beforehand. It can be previous boss or your college professor.

Hope these tips helped you ! All the best !
